Ten Egyptian soldiers were killed in two roadside bombings as they clashed with Islamic State group jihadists in the Sinai Peninsula, the military said on Thursday. In Ethiopia there were sixty people killed because of a landfill collapse crushing homes and innocent people. Though the landfill had been protested from receiving more garbage, it continued to pile up resulting in this tragedy.

A commercial plane on Monday made a crash landing in poor weather at an airport in South Sudan, causing several injuries among the 43 on board. “It is miraculous, completely,” said Ateny Wek Ateny, the South Sudanese presidential spokesperson. “There are only minor injuries. Burundi has declared a malaria epidemic after more than nine million cases were recorded since last year. According to the Burundi’s Health minister Dr Josiane Nijimbere, more than 3,700 people have died from the mosquito-borne disease since 2016.
