Creating tension seems to be a common card that North Korea likes to play. After being inactive for over two months, Kim Jung Un decided to show off his arsenal once more on Tuesday with the firing of more missiles. This has obviously caused alarm in the international community, including here in the United States. Government officials are saying that the launch of this stronger nuclear war head “brings us closer,” to war with the nation. This becomes a sticky situation because in another news article I read, North Korea has stated that they will resist diplomatic negotiations until they feel they have truly shown off their fire power to the rest of the world. They are continuing to attempt this in their latest launch which included a warhead capable of reaching the entirety of the United States. Obviously, war is not what they United States is looking for, especially one of the nuclear capacity. I think that if this situation did result in war, then it would be a quick one. Right now, North Korea is isolated in the international community; they have no allies and no one supporting their continued flexing of muscles. If North Korea were to strike either the continental United States, one of our military bases, or one of our allies, we are capable of obliterating them swiftly. The hope is that Kim Jung Un will come around and try to negotiate, but the likelihood of that is looking slimmer and slimmer each day.
