Diphtheria spreading throughout refugee camps

With the Diphtheria, a fatal respiratory disease, spreading rapidly through Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh it truly gives the rest of the world insight into just how unsanitary these refugee camps are. With over 600,000 refugees in Bangladesh the outbreak threatens to turn into an all out epidemic; making matters worse is that approximately half of the refugees in Bangladesh are children who have not been vaccinated and are already more susceptible to the disease. The camps have been receiving help from several big NGOs, including the WHO, however conditions in these camps still remain awful even in comparison to living in poverty in a MDC. This brings into question when the situation with the refugees will be resolved, however at this point the Rohingya’s would not want to return to Mymanmar due to the acts of genocide occurring over there. So at this point in time it essentially up to outside actors to assist in the damage control of the situation, as it seems impossible the UN will recognize what Myanmar is doing as “Genocide”.
