Myanmar is currently building military bases on the “abandoned” ground where the Rohingya Muslims once lived before they fled to Bangladesh due to ethnic cleansing. The Myanmar government has started construction in many areas where Rohingya used to live, and have even destroyed institutions like places of worship in order to build their military bases. The Myanmar government has also taken off bits and pieces of their roofs and such almost like taking a car apart for parts. The action being done by the Myanmar government is absolutely disgusting, in my opinion. The government has claimed that is ethnic cleansing is not an act done by the government, but hasn’t condemned it yet. By constructing many new military bases, the Myanmar government is basically saying that they have been ethnic cleansing and needed the room for their new bases and kicking the Rohingya out or killing them was the best option. The disgusts me that the government would first off allow the ethnic cleansing to take place even though their leader is a nobel peace prize winner. While is very much disapprove of this construction, if the government wanted the bases, they should have started construction later due to the sensitivity around the topic.
