Women are now 9% of what makes up one of the biggest military ships for Japanese marines. Women on the ship don’t face any discrimination when put to a job on the ship and have all the equal rights to tasks as men do. This is such a wonderful step in the right direction. They could be letting women work for men or women work with men, and these are two very different things. Looking at the statistics, women make up only 6% of the Japanese military which is pretty ridiculous. The ban for women to work on warships was lifted in 1993, so they have had only a 6% increase in 23 years. Women that have been working on the ship for years have seen a big improvement in how the men treat them on the ship. These women have said that they no longer encounter “any workplace discrimination.” That is such a positive statement to put out into the new and in hopes, it will draw more women into their military. In the article, it did talk about a few sexual assault victims that were attacked by a man but he had been dismissed which does still show discrimination. Thankfully that man was dismissed from the ship.

For a follow-up article from the last regional report, I found an article about Tesla. They have purchased a huge amount of land to build their first ever overseas factory. In the last article, I read about this was the talk about buying this land and building cars there instead of importing them and dealing with the extremely taxes they face. It will be exciting to see what new cars Tesla will produce and how much cheaper they will be for the Chinese now. This new factory will employ a huge amount of people in China. They will be based out of Shanghai for this new factory.
