New Zealand has been able to beat the Coronavirus yet again! In August New Zealand was hit with a second wave of the Coronavirus but in just two months they were able to beat it. They went up to 179 cases but after a three weeks of being on lock down, New Zealand has been Coronavirus free for two weeks new. Now there are no restrictions on social gatherings, allowing the second Bledisloe Cup Test in Auckland on October 18 to be played in front of a full stadium at Eden Park. Despite the promising development, Ms Ardern (New Zealands prime minister) warned New Zealanders to be aware of how insidious the virus can be.
This is important because New Zealand was able to beat the Coronavirus twice now, thus proving that the Coronavirus can be stopped without a vaccine. With New Zealand being coronavirus free, this gives other countries a chance to learn from New Zealand and gather information on how to help stop the Coronavirus. This will bring a new hope to the world in hopes of beating the Coronavirus pandemic, because I know we are all tired of it. Hopefully, with New Zealand’s help, other countries will practice the same practices New Zealand did, and we can beat the coronavirus once and for all.
This relates to International Relations because we have brushed the topic of the Covid-19 pandemic. With the Covid-19 pandemic being so out of control, countries all over the world have been coming together to try and stop the Coronavirus from spreading. With New Zealand and the US being apart of the World Health Organization they will be able to work closely together on fighting the Covid-19 pandemic along with other countries. In class we have been talking about IGO’s, NGO’s and MNC’s and with the World Health Organization being a Non-profit organization, this relates directly to what we have talked about in class.
