Xinjiang has been slowly been being developed into a more prosperous region. Xinjiang has been being developed in hopes of starting a trade deal with pakistan. China will gain massive advantage if it starts to get close to Pakistan because they will get access to the Arabian Sea. there is a port that is being developed in Pakistan by China. Gwadar port in Pakistan’s southwest Balochistan province is being developed to entice trade with xinjiang. Pakistan is very impressed with China’s ability to eliminate poverty and that they will do with trade for them.
I think that China is doing this for the soul purpose of getting access to the ports and closer to crude oil and natural gases. China is now the number one consumer of natural gases and oil and they rely heavily on it. with this new trade deal with Pakistan china will have easy access and a opening into a new market where they can make even more money.
This relates to class through a geopolitical lens. since China has no direct access to the middle east they will now have to befriend a state that does sinec before they would either have to ship their good all the way around India. now it will be a direct path to Xinjiang.
