As recently learned in class, IGOs play a big role in our worlds economic, social and political prosperity. In recent news, the countries in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) have been working together in order to maintain economic prosperity through trade. Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are large suppliers of oil and uranium which are priority energy resources in Eastern Asia. Both countries are members of SCO along with China and India whom are both taking interest in securing trade with the energy producing countries. India has especially shown interests in energy trade along Central Asia and is considering uranium trade with Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. This uranium trade would enhance good relations with Moscow, Russia, a long time player in the Central Asian trade region. India is also attracted to Kazakhstan’s gasoline. Trade relations are essential to a countries success. The energy trade in Central Asia would lead to cooperation between countries. As China is a large economic ally of the United States, this energy trade would increase cooperation between China and the US. Every country in the world needs energy no matter how big the size so countries must cooperate to obtain it. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization helps to keep relations in Asia strong. With two large world superpowers (China and Russia) economic prosperity is especially important, IGOs build relations and maintain welfare throughout regions of the world.
