The 2018 Winter Olympic Games are currently underway, and North Korea has been putting up a very happy front. Whether it be Kim Jong Un’s sister, or the North Korean athletes, it could be assumed that everything is okay in North Korea. Journalists Garry Kasparov and Thor Halvorssen beg to differ- they say that the North Korean presence Winter Olympics is only time for their Public Relations department to shine. Their thoughts are proven by simply looking at the state of North Korea; forced labor camps and other outlets that suppress human rights are still afoot. Kasparov and Halvorssen have gone as far as referring to North Korea as, “The Hermit Kingdom,” and their evidence does not fail to back up the accusation. In place is an intricate censorship system that is brainwashing the citizens of North Korea.
