UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says negotiations between the 2 Koreas will not work without progress in US-North Korea talks to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.<\/p>\n
Guterres spoke to reporters at the UN headquarters in New York on Thursday ahead of high-level events at the General Assembly next week.<\/p>\n
He said the results of the summit between the 2 Koreas were “positive.”<\/p>\n
But he said there will not be success in those talks without simultaneous success in US-North Korea negotiations to achieve the full and verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.<\/p>\n
On whether North Korean leader Kim Jong Un may attend the UN General Assembly, Guterres said he has no indication of any change to the North’s delegation. He said he will receive the country’s foreign minister as he did last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
