Singapore, being a wealthy city state, was ranked among the 10 worst-offending countries in fueling inequality with its low tax regime. Singapore’s tax policy went beyond its borders, says Max Lawson, and it serves as a \u201cTax Haven\u201d for large corporations. By this, he means that Singapore is taking so many taxes from these wealthy countries when they could be using that money towards any other pressing issue or helpful cause. Singapore’s income taxes are very low, and nearly half of the singaporean population does not pay an income tax. <\/span><\/p>\n

In Hong Kong, because of less-likelihood that there will be mass protests, Carrie Lam might attempt at a controversial security law. Not only that, but she also tackled the housing crisis, people not having affordable homes, and other domestic issues. In June, Carrie Lam announced that she had come up with half a dozen new policies to help with the shortage of affordable priced housing in Hong Kong. <\/span><\/p>\n

In South Korea, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is expressing his concerns with an inter-korean military pact that was agreed upon during last months summit, or meeting between the governments. Both North Korea and South Korea have agreed upon setting up a \u201cno-fly zone\u201d near the border as well as remove landmines and guard posts within the demilitarized zone and are going to halt military drills. The leader or North Korea, Kim Jong un and the leader of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, agreed on this military pact during the third summit. An annual audit, pointed out the fact that Mike Pompeo had been complaining about the deal made between Kim Jong Un and Moon Jae-in on a phone call. After making the effort to tie knots with North Korea, South Korea leader, Moon Jae-in is attempting to persuade North Korea to get rid of it nuclear weapons. Kim Jong Un agreed to work towards the goal of denuclearization. Shortly after this agreement, Kim Jong Un has not followed through so far.<\/span><\/p>\n
