The EU and Japan made a deal that will allow personal data from EU countries to seamlessly flow between them and Japan. This is extremely important for business. With a globalized world people need to be able to easily connect. How ever uncomfortable it makes me that businesses and other governments have access to a lot of information about myself and those around me. It is a powerful tool for businesses to be able to tailor their advertising as well as services based on your virtual profile. This information has been previously blocked between the two because it opens a lot of information about the country. It has taken years to reach this point. This is a huge economic step and will increase cross traffic and business deals. Which will be beneficial for both economies. I personally understand the mistrust between the two and understand that it has taken some repair from historical problems but I think that removing restrictions and allowing easy trade relations is extremely important. Japan has historically been a very closed off country. They traded very little with the world and try to keep their country culturally preserved. However, it is important for their businesses and businesses around the world to have open markets. For example while I understand the current view point in the US to pull back businesses to the states and while I think that many individuals will benefit from those jobs I think it is more important to allow businesses to conduct businesses around the world where it is best and economically more enticing for them. This ultimately benefits the consumers as well, often by significantly decreasing the cost. If clothing companies manufactured within the US we would have to pay triple the price for everything.
