China has just granted Canada access to both detainees that were arrested in China following Canada’s arrest of Huawei’s chief financial officer Meng Wanshou. Canada was very upset of the fact that Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig were arrested in China’s retaliation to the arrest of Wanshou. Canada’s prime minister Justin Trudeau had told China that these arrests were “unacceptable” and needed to be released because they had no reason as to be holding them. The reason behind Wanshou’s arrest was due to the US accusing her of misleading multinational banks around Iran’s sanctions, which violates the sanctions that the United States put on Iran around a month ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Canada’s prime minister said that they will continue to trade with China and try to not let this upset the relations they have already; however, China’s actions represent the imbalance of respect China may have for Canada. It’s hard to determine whether or not this puts a dent in future relations between both countries, but it is clear that this is only proving there are escalating conflicts on the rise in the future. As the superpowers are on the rise of conflict, this could bring the reign of the United States as the global hegemon to a close. A bi-polar or even multi-polar system can come into view with China’s economy raging forward. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now with the conflict between China and Canada rising, the US has a choice to be made, by meaning the United States needs to choose who is the best ally between the two. If there is comes a time where the United States is forced to choose sides, it’s very hard to understand which side they will choose, due to the fact that Canada is geopolitically significant in its location near the US. China has an incredibly high economic rule which benefits the US every day, but it that tie gets cut off then there is going to be serious issues to be solved when the time comes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
