The website “Welcome to Video”, originating in South Korea featured over 200,000 videos child sex abuse. Based on Bitcoin transactions, the marketplace received over 7,300 payments from viewers and earning hundred of thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The website creator, Jong Woo Son, is currently serving eighteen months in South Korea for child pornography chargers. He has also been charged on nine counts: one count advertising child pornography, two counts distributing child pornography, and three counts of money laundering and was indicted by a federal grand jury in the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were over one million views on the site during the almost three years it was online before the United States took it down. Over three hundred arrests have been made across 11 countries so far, including the UK, US, South Korea, Germany, Spain, Saudi Arabia, the Czech Republic and Canada. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The internet has made this website an international issue. While the website originally was solely South Korea’s concern, but it quickly became apparent the website had made its way all across the planet and it was no longer just one country’s issue. Usually, the issue when it reaches the international scale is not having successful global cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Global corporation among countries in this day of age is a seemingly impossible task. Luckily though, the United Kingdom, United States, Germany and South Korea have done just that to take down everyone who participated in the disgustingly evil \u201cWelcome to Video\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the United States having immense resources for the full take down and arrests in 23 states and the District of Columbia so far, the country has the most capability and motivation to lead the task of a full take down. But not to be forgotten, the UK, Germany and South Korea have also significantly contributed to the effort. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The desire to lock up all those involved and save the children abused in the videos has unified the different countries and their criminal justice task forces.
