Based on this meeting, Huang Kunming, a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said that China has nearly perfected eliminating poverty (as of the standards for this year), under the poverty reduction agenda of the UN. China’s success in this reduction has proved that human rights include financial and social development, and that in order to achieve development goals it is essential to have international cooperation. According to Ban Ki-Moon, a former UN Secretary General, poverty reduction has improved greatly all over the world, and China’s experience is an important example to the success of poverty reduction in all countries. Additionally, Liu Zhenmin, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, said that it is critical to look closely at the “vulnerable” groups such as children, elderly and informal sector workers, because the best way to achieve the UN’s goal of poverty reduction is to focus on these groups and addressing their certain necessities. He also said that it is very important to identify and execute the “underlining causes” of poverty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
China’s involvement in reducing poverty is super important to International Relations because China can serve as a leading example on how to get results in poverty reduction through the UN’s standards and regulations. As of the long term affects on the region, if other countries follow in the footsteps of China, we could see poverty go downhill throughout East Asia and Oceania or possibly the world. Why is China the “MVP” of poverty reduction? It seems to me that China would be an extremely difficult country to effectively reduce poverty, due to its massive population. China currently has the biggest population in the world at 1.393 billion people, and yet they are efficiently getting rid of poverty, which is very impressive. If China can do it, why not everyone else? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Article Link The UN hosted a seminar online this year about China’s poverty reduction and international sustainable development goals.
