This success, is greatly due to the strategy that Japan has taken on. It is called “cluster busting” or those outside of Japan simply call it the Japanese model. The ” busting” method aims to stop the spread of the virus through a seemingly simple process: health officials first contact trace everyone who tests positive, then using that information, they attempt to find the route person who was the original cause of the infection line they are tracing. Essentially, they look to cut off each infection line at the source, much like damming a river where the tributary streams start. Even though the busting method has been effective with the first two “waves” of Covid, experts are now saying that this method won’t be effective with this new third wave coming as we enter the winter. The problem is that with this next wave, the cases are much further spread apart, this means that contact tracing is extremely difficult solely because of the geographic range this wave has. In the previous waves of Covid, Cases could be traced back to those that went out to night clubs in a certain time period. Experts are calling the Japanese Government to enforce stricter travel restrictions in order to combat the spread.

The article shows that there is improvement coming in certain countries. Obviously, what methods to prevent Covid that would work for Japan or German, might not work the U.S or Mexico. Nevertheless, I believe that Japan is proving different methods to be effective in combating the virus. Going forward, it will be interesting to watch how this third wave will be dealt with in Japan as it it much further spread than the other ones. As countries strive for “normalcy” once again, I think that Japan is carving a path for toward that goal. Because no matter if Japan is successful or not in their methods to prevent Covid, they are still showing other countries ( especially the ones in their region and their democratic allies) that it is very possible to combat a virus. I also think that because Japans government is established very similarly to many other democratic countries, their methods and strategies they attempt could easily be recreated in by other government very easily. One could almost see Japan as special experiment due to the control the have. They are a relatively small, strong country that has the abilities and technology to make a real difference in the world in relation to Covid.

I once again cannot help but think about globalization when I read these articles. If Japan had not globalized with the U.S and adopted much of their culture and ideas, would they be able to deal with the virus in the same effectiveness? If japan, had the same type of government as 80 years ago ( technology would develop obviously) what would the pandemic in Japan look like? I think that it just goes to show that the majority of the time, globalization is a good thing. because no matter what happens, countries generally stand to benefit from globalization. Even if the cultures, ideas, and values don’t align, countries still stand to benefit from having that connection with another because at one point, they made need each others help. It is much easier for different countries to help one another if they have already globalized.what is beautiful about globalization is shown in Japan. The U.S inst directly helping Japan fight the virus, yet the government that was modeled after the U.S is doing a fantastic job on their own. Coincidence? I think not.

Throughout the Pandemic, Japan has been fairly successful in thier fight against the Corona Virus.
