The deal had been delayed for a number of different reasons but it is said that tensions between the United States and China proved to be advantageous for the latter. This pact will grant China more access into the EU\u2019s energy resources while giving the EU admission into China\u2019s manufacturing sector. Additionally, it is supposed to break the barriers surrounding investment in China. There has been, however, complications in regards to the forced labor prevalent in China currently. I think that this deal is a shift in the tides with respect to China\u2019s reach into the West. When the deal goes into effect, China will have substantial ties to the European Union and in turn locations much farther west. This deal is a grave cause for concern for other countries and specifically for the United States who also carries much influence in Europe. It is questionable how much this will affect China\u2019s image and support level. I believe that this deal definitely will be a cause for conflict in the future as the new Biden administration may feel as though it is an infringement on US relations. Again, this deal seems to carry on the notion that China is attempting to make themselves more of a hegemonic power. It is new to see China participate matter so far away. China is normally busied by other matters in East Asia. I think that it is extremely likely that the deal will only serve to increase tensions between the US and China as there is no way the United States supports Chinese influence approaching the western hemisphere. China is transitioning from focusing on nations in their surrounding region to creeping farther and farther west.
