North Korea has just revealed a missile described by the states media as ” the world most powerful weapon.” The actual capabilities of the missile are unclear as it has not been tested. The reveal of the weapon was done coincidentally the day before the ignoration of president elect Joe Biden. Kim Jon Un in a rare military meeting, declared the U.S. as the biggest enemy of North Korea. Kim claims that the development of the nuclear weapons is done in defense with the possibility of an attack from the U.S in the near future. Little progress of the relationship between Pyeongyang and the U.S has been done even though Kim and President Trump have had meetings together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This “flexing” of North Koreans military might really is just a cry for attention. I believe that the U.S could honestly care less about the actions of North Korea and I think that they are much more focused on the threat of China, who has a legitimate chance of taking over the world power role over the U.S. In order to be recognized and taking seriously, North Korea keeps making bigger and better bombs to show off to the world, but I believe it is happening the opposite effect. The more North Korea tries to pretend to be a world player, the more the actual world players look at North Korea as a joke. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In class, we discussed the realist theory, and how it is the role of the hegemon to strike down anarchy throughout the world. I believe that within my lifetime, there will be a point where the hegemon will interfere in North Korea and influence them at some point or another.
