Vietnam\u2019s Bamboo Airways plans to go public in the United States in hopes of making up to $200 million in the initial offering.  Their goal is to hopefully secure a market capitalization of up to $4 billion dollars.  They plan to offer a 5% to 7% stake in the IPO which is an attempt to expand the airline\u2019s services globally.  Currently the airline is planning an increase of its fleet by 40 aircraft doubling its size of the current 30 airlines it currently has.  They also wish to expand its flight destinations to countries such as the United States, Australia, Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom if Covid \u2013 19 continues to improve this year.  The airline was started in 2019 and has a goal of a 500 billion dollar profit this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is wonderful to see a small company grow and expand.  However, I think it will be hard to have a new airline provider enter into a market that has spent the past 15 months without travel due to Covid 19.  It will already be difficult to enter into a market with several powerhouse companies providing the same service with much larger fleets of airplanes.  Airlines need to have stringent safety and mechanical standards and I would think that people would question if a company headquartered in Vietnam will have what it takes.  I wish them well, but I am not sure that I would invest in this company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smaller markets have a hard time competing in the world economy.  It is a good sign to see a company in Vietnam trying to enter the market to take on larger airlines.  I think American investors who believe in the underdog may take the chance and buy into this company.  The direct flights from San Francisco to Ho Chi Minh City will be good for those who wish to do business with Vietnam or vacation there. Having a startup airline in a country with so many difficulties that they are overcoming is promising for the economy of Vietnam. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
