The structures photographed in the Taklamakan Desert appeared to include flat outlines of US military vessels without weapons or other details. The US Defence Department was asked about the situation and said “What we’re concerned about … is the increasing intimidation and coercive behavior of the Chinese military in the Indo-Pacific, and also the coercive tactics they’re using, even using economic tools around the world to bend other nations to their will or to their view of what’s in their best interest,” Which makes in seem the US is ready to take action if needed.

This is important because they are not sure why they are doing it but some believe that is possible for target practice. The US has warned that in recent months China has been rapidly expanding its military, including its nuclear capabilities, as tension builds in the South China Sea. This is mainly because the US Navy regularly carries out what it describes as routine missions with military ships in the South China Sea, which is one of the most disputed regions in the world. However, China says that they claim most of the region, but surrounding countries and the US disagree with that. This connects with a mock-up of the ships that the building of such structures shows that China continues to focus on anti-carrier capabilities, with an emphasis on US Navy warships.

This discusses what we talk about class that other countries will normally copy what the top countries are doing because all states want power. It is not common for militaries around the world regularly to build mock-ups of real-world targets such as iconic landmarks, warships, and aircraft carriers. I am not sure how the US will ultimately react to China’s mockup warship, but tension across the South China Sea continues to rise and may cause some kind of dispute or treaty to take place.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-59210417 This article is about how China’s military has constructed mockups in the shape of a US Navy aircraft carrier and US warships according to Maxar satellite images reviewed by the independent United States Naval Institute.
