Also, an invasion of Taiwan could be very difficult as the Chinese military would have to cross an ocean and then face fierce resistance from Taiwanese citizens as well as sanctions from the international community.
However, an invasion of Taiwan could stir up and explode the already high tensions within the South China Sea with competition over natural resources and trade routes, deep rooted ethnic and national conflicts, and large nuclear arsenals. Therefore, United States action would have to be indirect to support Taiwanese independence as United States soldiers fighting Chinese soldiers would result in seemingly a third World War.
States are relatively successful based on their ability to wield power and autonomy, which essentially means protecting their borders, maintaining stability within their borders, and protecting their citizens within the country and abroad. Therefore, Taiwan is not that powerful as its borders could be compromised by China once the order to invade is made in Beijing. However, this is not Taiwan’s fault as they have a small population and little economic production compared to China which has been able to derive use from their effective national territory and ecumene to grow the economy tremendously.

Link to article: https://www.reuters.com/world/chinese-calculations-taiwan-affected-by-ukraine-conflict-says-cia-director-2022-05-07/ According to William Burns, the United States’ Central Intelligence Agency Director, the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine and resistance by Ukrainians are greatly affecting Chinese short term plans concerning the possible invasion of Taiwan. At a Financial Times event, Burns stated how China is likely much wearier now to invade Taiwan because of the grand resistance to… Read more »

[1

post-5018","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-analysis
["GET
