The letter was addressed in a response to congratulations Kim sent to the congress. Xi is poised to win a third five year term as general secretary of the CCP. Xi was very willing to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. This support has come in the form of testing multiple ballistic missiles and resuming nuclear testing for the first time since 2017. They have also been doing military activities such as artillery drills and flights in warplanes, which is in response to military drills of force by both the US and South Korea. When questioned about both South and North Korea’s actions, Chinese foreign minister representative, Mao Ning, called on all parties to try to deescalate the situation.

This article is important because it shows how both North Korea and China are strengthening their ties. This is important because China is one of North Korea’s only allies. If North Korea loses China as an ally, then they lose the only ally they have, leaving them vulnerable. In turn, this would make threats from North Korea seem like they don’t have a lot of weight, and the thing is they won’t. The international community won’t take them as seriously if they lose China as an ally. This is why I think that North Korea is trying to keep the bond they have with China.

China’s government calls itself communist. The problem with this is that not one country is truly communist in nature nor do they ever claim to be. Instead, they say they are forever working towards a more communist government in their respective countries. In fact, Marx’s utopia has never been truly achieved ever in history. When you look at the five countries who claim to be communist (China, Cuba, Laos and Vietnam) they never fully aligned with the Communist Manifesto. China can not be classified as a true communist because it engages in capitalism, which cannot be present in a truly communist country.

A letter addressed to Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, before a historic congress ruling of the CCP, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that it was important that both Beijing and Pyongyang enhance their partnership with each other.
