However, Australia is taking steps in an attempt to mend that relationship. The Prime Minister is going to Beinjing to meet with Chinese leaders and discuss how to get rid of the economic tension between the two countries. Lately, the two countries have been able to deescalate the diplomatic deadlock that started when China started imposing restrictions on Australian trade. There are many benefits to these countries mending their relationship and ridding any economic tension. The relationship between China and Australia has huge implications on the regions surrounding, and many global powers will be observing to see how this conflict plays out.

The relationship between China and Australia is important across multiple levels. The economic struggle between the two countries is affecting them internally. The lack of trade for Australia is not good for their economy which is why they are trying to fix it. Also, Australia is a big ally of the United States, and their relationship with one of the United State’s biggest competitors is very important as well. The United States must be observing closely to ensure that the situation does not escalate, because the US does not want to build a conflict with another country right now. However, because of the steps that China and Australia are taking, it is unlikely that the United States will have to get involved at all.

This relates to class because it requires you to look at the conflict through the different levels of analysis. Looking at this through each level helps you get an understanding of how it benefits different parties involved in the conflict. Australia is worried about the economic impact that could occur internally, which helps understand their motivation for the meeting. The global events that were going on before this conflict help you understand why they occurred. It gives insight into the motivations for China’s actions, as well as how Australia could have prevented the restrictions on trade. There are many levels to the economic tension between these countries, but understanding them can give more understanding to the problem.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/04/china/australia-china-albanese-xi-jinping-trade-intl-hnk/index.html China and Australia have had a rocky relationship over the past couple years.
