North Korea has recently sent 1 million shells to Russia to aid their military forces against Ukraine. It is reported that North Korea has been maximizing their factories production in order to produce the most military equipment possible. North Korea is planning to launch a satellite soon, but they have lacked the resources or knowledge to do it effectively. Therefore, Russia has offered to help them with their launch if they provide Russia with military equipment. The United States has told North Korea that they will pay a price if they help Russia. The US believes it is a poor reflection of North Korea. The cooperation between Russia and North Korea is considered a threat to the US.

North Korea is helping Russia because they are seeking help and Russia has what North Korea needs. And North Korea is supplying resources that the Russians need. This act of exchanging resources and information between two of the United States biggest threats is an unsettling thought for American leaders and their allies. There is a sense of uncertainty because the United States and allies are unsure of what information is being shared. Could there be more than just satellite information being shared? That is a question that could be bothering the United States. The US has made their position on North Korea’s actions clear. And they subtly made a threat by stating that North Korea could “pay the price”. The United States must decide what steps are necessary to limit the transfer of important information between these two countries.

This relates to class because it is dealing with alliances and how those alliances support and trade with one another. The countries support each other by supplying the other country with whatever they need, and in return the first country will receive something that they need. The forming of this partnership is also causing a threat to the United States. This story also relates to class because it involved the international safety and international business pillars of international relations. North Korea and Russia are conducting business with each other to support their goals. However, this business is posing a security threat to other countries around the globe. There are many players in this circumstance, and the result could go any number of directions.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/01/asia/north-korea-one-million-shells-russia-ukraine-war/index.html North Korea has been very active in their support for Russia in the war against Ukraine.
