In this expo was the sixth International Economic Forum, where climate change and countries’ green transitions were discussed. These discussions were held to help drive our world to transition energy to green and renewable sources. The specific topics at hand were the investments, trade, and cooperation that would be needed to help effectively develop countries and our world to combat climate change. Rebeca Grynspan, secretary-general of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, conveyed the urgency of guiding investment and trade toward prosperous development. Grynspan and other leaders from both China and other countries such as Vietnam and Fiji expressed agreements, wanting to focus on investment for developing countries to provide global cooperation in the quest to lessen climate change.

These discussions have worldwide implications, as limiting climate change is a global interest. Having discussions between developing countries and larger powers also helps establish global connections and understanding of the best approach needed towards a green energy transition. Although the forum did not establish any written advancements, it is a small piece in the deeply complex puzzle that is transitioning our world’s energy to healthier and much more sustainable sources. The focus expressed on developing countries from both Grynspan and Chinese officials displays a positive advancement in regards to global cooperation, conveying a desire to help build up smaller countries for worldwide benefit.

Looking through levels of analysis, the global interest in transitioning to a healthier and greener world led this discussion to take place and caused these states to cooperate on these matters. Regionally, the forum and expo as a whole bring in nearby states among other allies, allowing a variety of levels of power to have a say in these discussions. Looking domestically, China holds these very talks to display a sense of international and cooperative interest. The subject matter at hand also illustrates an example of a Collective Goods Problem, not just between a few states, but our entire world. This demonstration of cooperation, at face value, also backs Liberal Theory as these states are out to cooperate and benefit our world as a whole.

Link to article: https://www.chinadaily.com.cn/a/202311/06/WS6547c7f2a31090682a5ec837.html On Sunday, China’s sixth International Import Expo was held.
