The first resolution adopted by the UN Security Council since the start of this Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Resolution 2712, “is a good start towards resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through political means,” says Wang. Wang also emphasized the continuation of developing and maintaining a cease-fire, stating that war must not start back up. He believes that the two-state solution is the most reasonable solution to the conflict, and must be formed as soon as possible. China is even calling for a larger-scale and more effective meeting to be held soon to establish a blueprint for the reestablished two-state system. Wang also met with the Brazilian and Malaysian Foreign Ministers the same day, all coming to agreements on the necessity of a cease-fire.
Wang’s statements convey the larger call for a two-state solution shared by most of the world powers with the current state of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Through his words and urgency in the timing of his meetings, a sense of desperation is evident. Wang, however, is mainly just backing the thoughts and political measures already being put into action by leaders around the world. The United Nations is showing a clear desire to put a stop to this to promote world peace and avoid a larger conflict. This shared value of these states is centered around the fear of what an escalation could cause more than anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
China and the countries coinciding with its approach to avoid the rekindling of this war show a resemblance to neoliberalism and constructivism in different ways. Where the connection to neoliberalism lies is within the nature in which states including China are holding their meetings, largely connected through IGOs and organizations like the UN. The countries largely seem to be peace-seeking and desire the same outcome, many having a seemingly open mind to the groundwork of a solution. Constructivism can also be seen as a theory lying in the forefront of the actions of China and countries from around the world. The construct and identity build up over centuries of conflicts and developments have led countries to share common beliefs on the conflict, whereas Israel and Palestine have formed a polar opposite perspective due to their circumstances. The two conflicting countries have unique identities in their own rights, being tied with a history of warfare and conflict, has led to the problem and a lack of motivation to resolve it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Link to article: https:\/\/www.chinadaily.com.cn\/a\/202311\/29\/WS6566e293a31090682a5f096e.html Wang Yi, Chinese Foreign Minister, met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the UN headquarters in New York.
