The United Nations Security Council has met to discuss North Korea’s new spy satellite that has recently been launched. It was reported that the satellite had photographed the White House, the Pentagon, and a British aircraft carrier. The satellite was heavily ridiculed by the UN council, as they stated that the launch violated UN Security Council resolutions. North Korea’s ambassador, Kim Song, then complained that they were the only country that faced restrictions on satellite launches. North Korea is also stating that the United States is threatening them with nuclear weapons. North Korea says that the US and South Korea are conducting joint military operations, which the US referred to as routine.

This is important because North Korea is actively surveying United States government buildings. And North Korea has a ton of access to strong military weapons that can alter a country’s history. North Korea is a country that every country is aware of, because of their access to weapons and their impulsive nature. That is why the UN has met with them to discuss their peculiar actions with the satellite, and they have even set restrictions on North Korea’s satellite. Surveying important American buildings is a huge warning to American officials. They should be alerted by these actions and prepared to take necessary action.

This relates to international relations because it deals with international security on an extreme level. One of the most dangerous countries in the world is actively surveying American soil and studying what they have observed. Because of the level of threat that North Korea imposes, other countries are very concerned about their actions. The UN understands this threat which is why they scheduled that meeting. They are concerned about the international security threat of North Korea’s satellites. The UN is taking the approach of diplomacy, but if the US or another country feels threatened, they might not be so laid back in their response
