Five Chinese workers were killed by a suicide bomber in Pakistan Tuesday. The most recent in the string of terrorist attacks that the south asian country;s military and government say aims to disrupt Islamabad\u2019s close ties with Beijing. The explosion happened when the bomber rammed a vehicle into the workers\u2019 convoy. This was hit when they were traveling to the country\u2019s largest hydropower project, the capital to the Dasu dam. This was the the third atrocity in a week to rock Pakistan, an ally of China and a key link to their Belt and Road infrastructure initiative. Pakistan has been dealing with an increase in violence from militant and terrorist groups since the Talilban seized power in neighboring Afghanistan in 2001. The Pakistani Taliban denied any association with the attack and China asked Pakistan to thoroughly investigate the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This will have a lasting effect on the region because the terrorist group that attacked these Chinese workers in Pakistan are enemies of the Pakistan and China friendship. If the attacks come from another country Pakistan and Chinese forces are likely to team up together and attack the terrorist groups. Or these attacks could be coming from Pakistani citizens who are against allying with the Chinese government. Either way the combined government of Pakistan and China are going to get to the bottom of the terrorist attacks which would lead to increased military presence in Pakistan and where the Chinese are working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This article relates to our international relations class because of alliances and terrorist groups. The China and Pakistan alliance are likely threatening to the bordering country of Afghanistan. The alliance benefits Pakistan because of the Belt and Road infrastructure initiative. It will set up multiple trade routes through many countries with one of them being Pakistan. This will lead to Pakistan profiting from it. Because of this the Taliban that rule Afghanistan was likely attacking the people working on this project to slow the work down and deal damage to a strong country in their region being Pakistan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
