The North claims that the South sent drones to the capital, Pyongyang in order to spy on the North. The tensions have been rising already due to Kim Jong Un saying a peaceful reunification of the Korea’s will not be possible anymore. Although there is no threat that the North will invade the South, the North fired warning shots closely to the DMZ to display the anger. South Korea has condemned this action of blowing up the rail roads and roads and saying it is “Highly abnormal” and “Regressive”. The roads and rail roads were mainly built with South Korean money and is said to be worth $132.9 million in loans and the South has said the North needs to pay it’s loans back to the South.

With the demolition of the roads and railways, North Korea is becoming more of a hermit kingdom due to cutting ties with the South. This could lead to war in the future as the North is preparing incase of an attack from the South by putting troops and fortifications along the border. With the South being allied with the US and the North allied with China and Russia, many countries would be dragged into a war if one happens. This event will shape the future of the Korea’s and either they both will cease to talk to each other or one will fall from war. With the past aggression displayed by the North and them getting more aggressive, it doesn’t seem to stop and will have long lasting implications in the future.

Both the North and the South could peacefully reunify and rebuild the infrastructure to connect each other but that will most likely not happen after Kim saying reunification is no longer possible. The worst option would war, most likely leading in a world war due to the allies on both sides and the nuclear weapons involved with the North. The most likely case in this situation would be both countries leaving each other alone and they don’t attack each other to cause further implications among both nations. The decision making in this would be in the individual level, By Kim Jong Un which is the narrowest level of the levels of analysis. This is what determines what happens next during the conflict and Kim was the reason why the roads and railways were blown up. NATO an IGO would be dragged in as the US would be dragged in with the treaty and close ties we have with South Korea. South Korea does have to use critical analysis in order to solve on what will they do in response of this as war would be devastating but doing nothing might cause North Korea to be more aggressive, but South Korea has to choose the right decision.

Article Link: https://apnews.com/article/north-korea-roads-destroys-drones-south-0672f5baf033cf0c4ecb2f1e1b958a41 The ever growing tensions between North and South Korea, the North has blown up all of it’s roads and rail roads connecting the countries due to the anger displayed by the North Koreans.
