The job market in India has become historically sluggish in the past year. This follows as the recently elected Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, promised that his party would create 10 million jobs if he was elected. Since his election, the unemployment rate has risen from 4.9% to 5% and India’s citizens are beginning to question their prime minister’s ability to create progress. I thought this article was extremely interesting because I noticed that some of Modi’s policies hinder his countries ability to make economic process, such as his ban on the slaughter of cows and abattoirs. I also thought it was interesting that one of the quotes from\u00a0Ruchir Sharma, chief global strategist at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, was that one of the main reasons that India falls short of China and its weak job market was its failure to be productive and successful in industries which produce cheap goods such as textiles. The article is very informative in the fact that it evaluates and explains in detail the economic and political challenges which India faces in the present and future and what is being done by the governing body to confront it. India faces a challenging future in which it must overcome adversity such as rising unemployment and a sluggish economy and will be a key \u00a0country to watch in future events.<\/p>\n
