{"id":915,"date":"2017-10-27T01:55:30","date_gmt":"2017-10-27T01:55:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/baileyonlineclassroom.com\/eastasiaandoceaniablog\/?p=915"},"modified":"2017-10-27T01:55:30","modified_gmt":"2017-10-27T01:55:30","slug":"china-could-be-on-the-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/baileyonlineclassroom.com\/eastasiaandoceaniablog\/2017\/10\/27\/china-could-be-on-the-rise\/","title":{"rendered":"China Could be on the Rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">China&#8217;s president, Mr. Xi, has been trying to strengthen Chinese power on the global scale by strengthening economic ties and presenting himself as rational and pro-globalization (something the United States cannot boast).<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) joined with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), known as the \u201c5 +1\u201d initiative, seems like a promising union of 62% of the global population and 31% of aggregate GDP, which will hopefully increase as the countries work together to industrialize and cooperate. The geographical location of the EEU, natural resources, and Sino-Russian relations are key for the BRI to be ultimately successful because it connects regions economies and trade which is dependent on globalization. Yet, China has other motives to increase their power too. They\u2019ve been cultivating struggling countries in the EU so they can block policies that could hurt Beijing and have been hitting Australia by having Chinese students press Chinese issues in the classroom. They\u2019ve also been experimenting with new policies on Australia to possibly try on the EU and U.S. Hopefully China will not get carried away (some countries are coincidentally remembering China&#8217;s imperial age) and continue with uniting the global field through economic ties, hopefully strengthening lesser countries in the process.
