If I had to say, I would think that not having a single ‘discourage’ written on a ballot for any candidate is common. I like to think that maybe for a political leader, no problems will arise. \u00a0Going through his past in politics, he appealed to all the countries he worked with and when he left the refuge agency, a former president of Portugal even said that he left a “legacy” at the agency. Even though many people had their hopes pinned on having a the first women appointed as UN secretary general, no grudges or obvious disdain toward Guterres has been revealed or shown from his other candidates or people watching the news on the UN. I just find it fascinating that Guterres has left a, for a lack of better words, fantastic mark on the leadership positions that he has held in the past 20 years. While reading this article, there wasn’t one bad comment on Guterres. Everybody was praising him and saying that he left his mark and it was a positive one and not a negative one. All-in-all this makes me have faith in politics for once in my life and I can’t wait to hear and read about upcoming news regarding the UN and Antonio Guterres.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
What I find most interesting about this article and situation is how out of all the 15-member Security Council, not one person, voting for or against the 10 candidates, said ‘discourage’ to Antonio Guterres.
