In return, Ukraine is seeking high end air defense missiles that the gulf countries such as Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan have an abundance of.

I believe that this is an intelligent move by president Zelenskyy because although actions made by countries somewhat affect every country in any way not all effects are created equal. Yes Russia is a military ally of Iran and is creating deals with Iran similar to these, the conflict as a whole is less related to the situation in Iran as lets say the Korean war and the Vietnam war. Because the conflicts correlate less it is a smart move for Ukraine to attempt to use the panic happening in the middle east as leverage to get what they want. Ukraine receiving these new military allies and abundance of missiles could put an even greater pressure on Russia which would also place a greater pressure on Iran because of that military link between Iran and Russia.

If I am Ukraine in this scenario, I am utilizing this distraction occurring in the middle east to create one giant push that could end their ongoing conflict with Russia to an even greater extent then they already are. Ukraine should be playing a greater role in the suffocation of Iran if they want to weaken Russia because the less military allies Russia has the less confident they will feel in an attack, especially an ally so geographically advantageous to the conflict like Iran.

Interdependence is the greatest link to class that I can make with this article because it is displaying two or more stakeholders working together for a common goal. Specifically, it shows liberal internationalism in the sense that Ukraine and the middle east countries such as Qatar, Kuwait and more are working together with communication and trade to attempt to oust an authoritarian located in their own region.

Link: Link Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy took a surprise visit to Saudi Arabia to attempt to strike a deal with multiple Arab countries that are somewhat involved with the conflict in Iran by aiding in drone expertise support.
