Countries in the Middle East are trying to get their young population more involved in the democratic process, namely Egypt. This is most likely due to the U.S. intervention and influence held over Egypt, but many other countries in the Middle East are not as enthused because they don’t have democracies. Yet, the article mentioned all of the Middle East; therefore, it will be interesting to see if the young population can deliver some stability to the region once they are older and have more say in the government. Young people tend to be more open to other cultures, religions, and ethnicity so it is a possibility that the Middle East could have successful democracies if people are more willing to work together. Hopefully, this will also apply to Israel and Palestine, but at the moment Israel is alluding to strengthening their nuclear arsenal in response to Iran building up theirs. This would mean that regardless of peaceful democracies the Middle East could be nuclearized adding to the already extremely unstable area.
