It doesn’t seem like there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the Middle East, as the conflict gets worse and worse. I came across an article on Al Jazeera that discussed the bombing of funeral processions in Yemen that killed 130 people and injured 300 more. People can’t do anything in these countries, even mourn for their loved ones, without the threat of violence. The government forces and the rebels seriously have no conscience when it comes to this. They see a group of people and immediately think “OMG! I must blow them up because they of course have to be the people we are fighting and totally not innocent people!”. It really makes me sick. The best course of action would probably be for the people to leave these countries and go somewhere much safer like the United Kingdom or America, since there is a low possibility of a terrorist attack happening here. There they can live their life without threat of violence.
Looking at Syria, the forces of Bashar Al Assad, backed by Russian air strikes as well as Iraqi and Lebanese ground forces, have been making gains against the rebel forces in Aleppo and other parts of the country ahead of the United Nations vote on the Russian and French proposals to end the conflict, according to an article I found on Reuters. France wants an end to air strike and military flights over Aleppo while Russia wants to revive the cease fire deal that they negotiated with the United States. I see problems with both proposed resolutions to the Syrian conflict. The end to air strikes will only prolong the conflict, as they really should be intensified. Reviving the cease fire deal won’t be worth it as Assad’s forces will end up violating it.
