Two Palestinians were killed and a third critically wounded after an alleged attack on an Israeli military base in the northern occupied west bank. The Palestinians approached the Salem military base near the city of Jenin with homemade submachine guns. Israeli police said that the three Palestinians fired the weapons at the base’s main gate. Border police and Israeli soldiers responded by firing and “neutralizing” the Palestinians. There were no Israeli casualties reported. This attack happened at the time of heightened tensions over occupied East Jerusalem where dozens of Palestinians are at risk of being evicted following a long legal battle with Israeli settlers. Palestinian protesters have clashed with police on a nightly basis in recent weeks.
With the tensions between Israelis and Palestinians being at an all time high, any clashes or casualties between both can cause any side to start clashing with the other. As the news as covered, injury and hatred toward Palestinians in Israel has grown and grown so much to the point where there are worldwide protests in favor of wanting to help Palestinians. This small attack toward the Palestinians wanting to carry out an attack on the Israeli military base most likely assisted in Israel being less wanting of Palestinians in the country and forcing them out of their homes.
What’s happening in Israel between the Israeli’s and the Palestinians is related to two ethnicities clashing over territory because of religious ties. Those ethnicities have religious ties over the area and have had high tensions for years.
