As missile attacks keep intensifying in Gaza thousands of citizens are forced to vacate places like Beirut or other bordering cities. According to the town’s mayor, Milad El Alam “More than half the 10,000 residents in Rmeish, another border town, have fled to Beirut or the Metn region, just north of Beirut” The town didn’t have enough medical support or enough supplies which are common throughout most towns throughout israel. With constant threat of missile attacks all over the country the citizens have no other options but to leave their homes and take their families to a safe neighboring country.
This article is very important because with thousands fleeing the country and seeking asylum you now have to ask countries you’ve never been in before to welcome these refugees with open arms. These once small productive towns or growing aspiring cities are now left abandoned and war-torn with bombs raining down and people fleeing by the masses. This doesn’t just affect the infrastructure of this country but also the economy. It will leave the country of Israel’s economy deflated for years to come and it raises the question of will its citizens ever feel safe in their own country with tensions this bad between Palestine.
This relates to what we’ve been talking about with countries making decisions that have serious advantages and disadvantages. For example, Israel made the decision to keep pushing the border which prompted the Palestine bombings and later all-out warfare led to thousands of deaths and destruction. The entire country is now fleeing and in utter chaos due to these decisions by the government because they deemed it a necessary risk to push the border.
