Israeli media has made reports about the beginning of a land bridge linking Israel to the Emirates through Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The Jordanian Ministries of Transport and Industries came out and debunked these narratives soon after. Their spokesperson stated that these claims are false, assuring that the country will not serve as a bridge to Israel. Dating back over a week ago, the Israeli military was in talks about escorting ships through the Bab al-Mandab with battleships. A few days later, the UAE and Israel signed an agreement to break the siege, clearly in attempt to escape from the consequences of the Yemeni siege. Despite Israeli reports that the first arrival of land shipments through the territories following this agreement, Jordan has shot down the legitimacy.

The conflicting reports conveys the turmoil in the region. With the siege, the strait is at risk for all countries not in direct ties to Yemen. However, not all of the states are in great relations. This is evident between Israel and Jordan in this scenario. Looking into Israeli motivations for these remarks, their war with Hamas likely marks a cause for desperation of economic improvement or stabilization at the least. The siege of the area is causing them to scavenge for a way around this norm of transportation. The UAE and Saudi Arabia are also clear factors in this matter, and are not brought up in this article but have clear implications in this matter. How the two states approach this short term solution to the siege will have a direct correlation with the health of the Jordan-Israel relationship over the upcoming days to weeks.

This interstate conflict has implications on all of the involved states, along with a potential trickling to other nearby states in the region due to economic instability being a potential result. However, a break of the siege will resolve this issue drastically. As the siege stands though, Israel is facing the largest security issue, as the scramble to bandage the situation may lead to somewhat of an economic struggle. During a time of extreme tension for the state, a solution is needed as soon as possible. This struggle over the strait will continue to pose question marks to surrounding states until a diplomatic solution is finalized.
