Responding to the exploding pagers amongst Hezbollah forces, Iran warns Israel of retaliations soon to come. The statement was made by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Salami, in a conversation with Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah. Additionally, Lebanon and Iran are a part of the “axis of resistance”. In which, Iran-allied armed groups are a part of (Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Yemen’s Houthis and Iraq’s Popular Mobilisation Forces). Salami said in his message to Nasrallah that Israel's actions are “zionist”, which he uses to justify his threat. Furthermore, Houthis rebels have been attacking any ships suspected to be Israel affiliated in the Red Sea.
Iran's response is the definition of what it means to have alliances with familiars. All members of the “axis of resistance” are not the same branch of Islam. However, due to the nature of the Israel-gaza war, Muslims at any means necessary will fight tooth and nail to drive the Israelites out. Furthermore, Lebanon Nasrallah stated targeting Hezbollah members is “a declaration of war”; thus, expressing the extent to which the axis of resistance forces are willing to go. Geographically speaking, Israel is distant from Iran, but shares borders with Lebanon, which borders Syria. Thus, this whole ordeal implies more bloodshed to come.
Iran's response hits the mark in their own self interest. Currently, they have a group honed in on a common enemy in which they just attacked one of their members. Now, they put Israel in the defense, requiring it to walk on a thin line of possible responses. However, it seems to be in Israel's best interest to push for peace.
On a regional level of analysis, the Middle East is a contentious point. The Holy land of Israel is surrounded by a muslim majority demographic, increasing its likelihood of being overthrown. On an individual level of analysis, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Salami, takes immediate action. Most likely, he is rallying the axis of resistance to retaliate against Israel. Gaza took the first swing, and now the muslim world will reign down on Israel.
