Qatar, Egypt, and the US have for months been trying to broker a deal that would stop the fighting, secure the return of the remaining hostages, and allow a surge in humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza. A ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas is nearly final, focusing on hostages and military de-escalation. With President Biden’s support, the US is pushing for the agreement, which could happen soon. The deal would see Hamas release hostages in stages, with Israel withdrawing troops and releasing Palestinian prisoners in exchange. However, there’s opposition within Israel’s government, particularly from right-wing members.
The ceasefire will take time to be finalized because this isn’t a group of respectful people who listen to rules. So, bringing trust into this situation and returning the hostages will take time. They realized they would eventually lose to the Israelis. So, it’s better to take a deal of releasing Palestinian prisoners. With the inauguration of President Trump in the next few days, I think of his hard power way of running this country. With statements he has made about using the United States’ power to free the hostages. Hamose knows they will lose, so they are giving up.
Israel will use a harsh security policy to get these hostages back. They can’t let this group push them around because they will keep asking for more or lie about the amount of living hostages they have. It said in the article that they haven’t heard back yet on the number of hostages that are alive, but they are trading a ton of Palestinian prisoners that would be in prison for 15 years for 30+ hostages. This seems like they are getting pushed around, but to end this conflict, it’s best to just try and ease conflict rather than try and be strict with a group that could have suicide bombers that could pose a considerable security threat to their country.
