The UK banned trade with Israeli settlements because the UK claims that they are carrying out an “ethnic cleansing” of Palestinians. Britain has been an ally with Israel for a long time but ever since 2025 they recognised Palestine as a country. In response to that Israeli said that they would close the British consulate in Jerusalem. Furnace and Canada said they would join the ban if this counties. All of these countries still believe that a two state solution would still work out and that Israel is risking that two state solution by doing these “ethnic cleansings”. This is not a big action economically but it shows that less and less country are going to be putting up with this war. The Israeli foreign is expelling U.K. representatives from joint military exercise. They have also barred 12 british lawmakers and U.K citizens who were involved in anti semitic. The U.K. says that there have been ” houses bulldozed, roads and public infrastructure destroyed, families displaced from their homes”. This ban will be in place in 6 to 9 months.
The U.K. has been pushing away from Israeli since 2025 but that makes sense because they are in a war that no one other than some countries supports them. All of the settlers are pushing people out of their homes and also point guns at reporters just because. The way that this is going there will be no two state solution it will only be under Israeli control. I think most countries in the EU will try to ban trade with the Israelis.
The U.K. wants to preserve the two state solution and they are trying to pressure Israel to stop the settler violence and settlement expansion. Israel claims that they own the west bank and rejects Palestine statehood, and they call the U.K. move outrageous. France and Canada Joined the UK in the ban and France is pushing for a EU ban. Palestinian welcomed this move and is the one who is claim the settlers violence.
This has a connection to class through how the EU has been brought up and some countries have been banning Israel because of “ethnic cleansing”. There have been a lot of NS and also MNS getting involved in this. Israel is a NS because predominantly of their country is Jewish. NS means that it is one country that has the same ethnic identity so this would be under this category.
