In relation, prime minister Netanyahu has expressed approval and support for the bill. Since Israel’s founding in 1948, it has been illegally acquiring land from Palestine, thus reducing the country to consist of just Gaza and the West Bank. Israel has also been building settlements for Israeli and Jewish citizens or immigrants and allowing them to reside in these Palestinian lands, ignoring international law. Not only are they allowing settlers into Palestinian land, Israel currently holds a military occupation inside the West Bank. The military has hundreds of checkpoints all around the land in which they regularly pull over, torment, and even murder innocent Palestinians. So why is Israel cracking down so hard on Palestine? It’s simple. The Israeli’s believe that the land was promised to them, and they have historical and religious roots embedded in the land. As important as this is, the Israelis and Jews were absent from the land for hundreds of years, and consequently, the land was settled by the Palestinians. It’s evident that both groups of people have a claim to the land, but it is completely impractical for the Israelis to expect that the Palestinians abandon the land and go elsewhere. It is their home now too. Palestine, as weak as it is, has just as strong a claim to the land as the Israelis, and I believe other strong Arab countries need to come together and support their Palestinian brothers. In my opinion, a one state solution will never work, and it is essential that other Arabs help take back Palestine. The land cannot be reduced to just Israel alone, as the government will continue and probably broaden their marginalization and oppression of the Palestinians so long as Palestine remains weak.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
The Israeli Ministerial Committee is set to vote on a “Greater Jerusalem” bill in which the Israeli government would essentially annex illegal settlements from the Palestinians in order to minimize territories belonging to Palestine, specifically the West Bank.
