Qatar Airways will report a “very large loss” because of a regional political dispute that has slapped restrictions on the airline,\u00a0its chief executive said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The Qatari airline lost access to 18 cities in\u00a0Saudi Arabia<\/a>, the United Arab Emirates (UAE),\u00a0Egypt<\/a>, and Bahrain when those countries imposed a\u00a0blockade<\/a>on Qatar last June.<\/p>\n “We will announce a very large loss during the current financial year which ends this month,” al-Baker said, without giving further details.”<\/p>\n The restrictions, which include a ban on using airspace over the four countries, are “putting financial strain” on Qatar Airways, Chief Executive Akbar al-Baker told reporters at the ITB travel fair in Berlin.<\/p>\n Saudi Arabia and the\u00a0UAE<\/a>\u00a0were popular routes for Qatar Airways.
