Before doing reading this article I knew about the civil war in Yemen but I did not realize the extent of it and how many people were being killed. I originally thought that it was a much smaller conflict and I did not realize the worldly implications of the war. I would have thought that the war would have been over by now because the article stated that the Saudi-UAE military alliance has been carrying out airstrikes for three years. So the Houthis must be very well organized and very large rebel group.<\/p>\n
I did not realize that the United States was involved in the Yemen civil war by providing logistical support to the Saudis. I am surprised that there hasn’t been more American news coverage of the airstrikes against the Houthis because the article stated that many civilians have been killed including many children. I am surprised that there hasn’t been more attempts for peace considering the number of casualties. Before reading this I was unaware of why the United States would even be involved in Yemen but following research I learned that the Iranians, according to United States intelligence, were supplying the Houthis with weapons and intelligence. Through reading this article and doing some background research I feel like I have a much better grasp on the Yemen Civil War as a whole and some of the reasons for the war and why the United States is involved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
