As the Yemeni government lead by Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi and the Iranian backed houthi militia clash against each other, they both claim that they constitute the Yemeni government. As this civil war is taking place, millions of people are put at risk with ongoing attacks by both sides. Three UN organised efforts have occured in an attempt to bring a peace deal to both sides, each time has resulted in failure. Recently there has been a great shortage of food and supplies to children throughout Yemen and it’s port cities. An NGO organization called Save the Children recently said that 5 million children will become, if not already, in famine and in need of food. I am incredibly displeased that the two governments cannot see over their differences and realize the destruction they are causing on the innocent population throughout the country. The organization says that if there becomes extensive fighting in the port city of Hodeida, then there will immediately be hundreds of thousands of children in danger, while millions will be pushed into famine. These statistics show the true extent from what a civil war will cause on its internal population. With people fleeing on the daily and the unknown of the next meal that so many question constantly, it is horrifying to realize the hardships that the children have to go through. Having babies too weak to cry because they are all victims of malnutrition, it is painstakingly obvious that the government has to come to an agreement before they kill off an entire generation. With fighting growing ever so close to the port city of Hodeida, there puts at risk 8 million people that are dependent on food and other supplies that come into this city by boat. If the port is closed off by either side, who is to tell the true horror that the people of Yemen will have to go through in order to get their next meal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Yemen has been a place of civil war since 2015.
