Over this past weekend, many events have occurred in the Middle East region of the world. An even that I find interesting that I am going to put emphasis on is the sentencing of a Shiite cleric and two of his fellow opposition members to life for after facing charges of Spying for the Qatar nation.<\/p>\n
The members of this opposition group known as, al-Wefaq group, are Sheikh Ale Salman, secretary general of the group, and Sheikh Hassan Sultan and Ali Alaswad. The reason of sentencing is for transferring confidential information on Bahrain to Qatar, for financial compensation. Prosecutors were able to provide evidence by presenting recorded phone call conversations to the court.<\/p>\n
Prior to Mr.Salman acts towards Bahrain, he was previously targeted by the government of Bahrain, and allegedly tortured and detained for months prior to trial before being deported and forced to live in exile for more than 15 years, according to the UN.<\/p>\n
My feelings towards this event is that these acts committed by the opposition leader and two of his senior partners for financial compensation in return are wrong and unjust in the fact of causing possible safety issues to Bahrain’s government and well being. Along with this, Qatar denying these unjust acts and accusations is a waste of time especially since prosecutors are able to provide evidence with recorded phone calls, and the fact that Bahrain had broadcast these phone calls during a live television announcement a few years in the past.<\/p>\n
Another view that I have which is in Mr.Salman’s favor, is that before officials and court justices sentence him to life for his crimes, they should take into account the unjust treatment he previously received from the Bahrain government, as it obviously fueled a burning hatred in the mans heart. I feel that Salman’s sentence should be significantly reduced and that all the funds he received throughout his time working with the Qatar nation should be given to the Bahrain government or should be used as a bail payment for the man.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
