Bashir has often aligned himself with the likes of Russia and Syria for many years since the start of his power in 1989. In recent years, the Sudanese people have been struggling to feed themselves; and it’s only gotten worse. A lot of Sudanese people provide transportation for others to provide for their families. Now, gasoline has become scarce and the transportation that allows people to commute everyday is no longer there and the people providing transportation are now living on the streets. The banks no longer have cash. It is impossible to get 100 Sudanese Pounds ($2.10) to purchase something as simple as bread. My point in mentioning all of this is to say that Omar Al-Bashir has no business traveling anywhere when his own people are dying and can’t find the means to live. He and his cabinet members choose to indulge themselves in the most insignificant things and chooses to ignore the disaster surrounding him. On multiple occasions Bashir has rigged the elections and he has been doing so for quite sometime but his people have just started realizing this in the past 4 years. Bashir is looking for a mutually beneficial relationship. It is a known fact that poor countries will almost always look to communism for hope. It is also known that Russia acts the way it does in order to protect themselves and expand their influence. Sudan’s location is prime for Russia considering its on the Red Sea. Saudi Arabia has constant oil shipments going through the Red Sea which Putin may use to interfere and some say that it’s also has untapped oil as well which also is important for Putin who is pushing off an impending energy crisis.

Sudan’s Omar Al-Bashir has become the first world leader in nearly 8 years to visit the country of Syria.
