On May 14, 2018, the United States recognized Jerusalem as the capital of the state and opened an embassy. On the same day, Israelis killed fifty-two Palestinians that were protesting the opening of the embassy. Personally, I would not use the term “killed” but more “massacred” or “slaughtered” fifty-two Palestinians as the doors of the United States embassy opened. May 14t, 2018 is the bloodiest day in Gaza since 2014. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently, Israel constructed a highway that has been named “apartheid highway” by the Palestinians, much like they call the walls around Jerusalem “apartheid walls.” This highway was built in the West Bank and built on land belonging to the Palestinian village of Anata. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I know that a lot of people, especially my peers, are confused about the situation, how it started, why its been going on for as long as it has, and if the recognition of the Palestine state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The situation in the West Bank is something that deserves a lot more attention than the media gives it. The countries in the United Nations Security Council could use their positions of power in the hierarchy to not solve the issues in the state, but make it so more people and countries pay attention to it. In many cases, what the Israelis are doing are human rights atrocities and need to be recognized as such. The United States government made a mistake opening an embassy in Jerusalem, in my opinion. Previous administrations always signed a waiver regarding the move of the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The highway that has been constructed in the West Bank is just another ploy for the Israelis to take more land from the Palestinians. They are aware of the land that this highway was built on, and the family that owns a majority of the Anata land claims that Israel just wants their land. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
