Recently the President of the United States, Donald Trump, said that american troops should stay on military base in Iraq so the US could \u201ckeep an eye on Iran\u201d. A lot of people spoke out against Trump, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani being one of them. Al-Sistani is Iraq\u2019s major shia leader. He mentions that Iraq wants to have good foreign relations with the countries Iraq, they don\u2019t want international affairs to effect that. He also mentions that he doesn\u2019t want Iraq involved in any harm done to any country. Their is severe disapproval of Trump\u2019s plans in the Iraq. Both Iraq\u2019s President and Prime Minister have responded with their thoughts. When Trump talks about this he is talking specifically about the Al-Asad airbase in western Iraq. This is where he visited in December of 2018. Technically this base is an Iraqi army base, but it hosts and holds Americans. Specifically the Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi reminded the Trump why the US didn\u2019t have an American base in the first place. Iraq is very clear on its views about the situation. The President of Iraq, Barham Saleh, also stated that this is Iraq\u2019s first time hearing of the conflict and Trump never expressed his plans of keeping an eye on Iran to Iraq. The last thing that Iraq wants is to aid in the detriment to a neighboring country. It would not benefit Iraq in anyway whatsoever, if anything it would hurt Iraq\u2019s foreign relations to its neighboring countries. During all of this commotion a lot of Iraq\u2019s people and militants believe that the US has in fact overstayed its welcome. A US led coalition came into Iraq to help Iraq fight against the Islamic State.
