It is currently estimated that around 64 million of India\u2019s citizens live in dangerous and unsanitary slums. India has tried to implement an agency known as Keep India Beautiful, their goal is to educate people about cleanliness, tackling litter, waste minimization, and ways to get out of poverty. The biggest issue in India is that India has such a large income distribution. The top 1% of the population own 58.7% of the wealth, this means that the entire rest of the 99% are forced to share the rest. The bottom 1% only have access to 0.2% of the wealth. India also has a number of refugee camps, most of which are on the borders of other countries and are due to citizens from other countries immigrating. The Republic of India has recently passed a law that could expel over 4 million people living in India because of their citizen status. \n\n Immigration and poverty are by far some of the hardest issues to fix because of their multifaceted nature. The Republic of India has already began to try new policies that are aimed at pulling people out of poverty. India has implemented a policy that gives land on the outskirts of big cities to impoverished people who currently live in slums. This policy will encourage people to farm and create their own food. India has been absorbing Rohingya refugees and placing them into refugee camps, these refugees are usually deported and sent back to their homeland. Many refugees have come from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Malaysia. Muslim refugees are usually the first to be deported. \n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Part 1: The Issue of Informal Settlements The Republic of India has had a long history with informal settlements.
